Surface Mine Maintenance Manager Description

Our client in the mining industry is looking for a skilled Surface Mine Maintenance Manager to add to their team in Southern West Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of surface mining equipment, managing maintenance personnel and ensuring that the equipment operates at peak efficiency with minimal downtime. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in maintenance management, with experience managing large fleets of surface mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators. To be successful in the role, you must be able to apply technical expertise and hands-on experience to solve problems. Surface Mine Maintenance Manager Responsibilities

•    Oversee the maintenance and repair of all surface mining equipment 
•    Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
•    Ensure compliance with all mining regulations and safety standards
•    Manage maintenance teams, including mechanics, technicians, and support staff
•    Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and supplies
•    Develop maintenance budget, monitor costs, and control operational expenses
•    Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance 
•    Work closely with operations managers to align maintenance schedules with production goals
•    Build and lead a team that performs tasks safely, effectively and efficiently 
•    Provide continuous feedback to crew members, recognizing excellent performance and addressing areas for improvement when necessary
•    Lead and support continuous improvement projects
•    Adhere to and enforce the Company’s policies and procedures to ensure safety

Surface Mine Maintenance Manager Qualifications

• Surface Coal Miner Certification required
• 5+ years of experience as a surface mining mechanic required
• 5+ years of experience in a maintenance management role within mining operations required
